Scope of Practice

The scope includes couples/relationships, anxiety, depression, grief, loss, workplace stress, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, victims of narcissism, suicidal ideation, trauma, PTSD, life transitions, and academic stress-related concerns. If needed I am comfortable supporting the client using their spiritual lens. You are the expert in your life so collaboratively we will build a treatment plan with tangible goals that lead to improving your well-being. We're in this together!

I work with children and teens 5 and up to the elderly 90 plus and all ages in between.

Individual

Psychotherapy is a mental health treatment that involves talking with a therapist to address emotions, thoughts, and behaviours. It can be offered in-person, over the phone, or virtually and is aimed at helping individuals address mental health concerns and improve overall well-being. Psychotherapy can support individuals in developing healthy coping skills, improving relationships, and promoting self-awareness and growth.

Couples

Couples counselling utilizing evidence-based methods, such as Gottman Couples Method for making relationships word and/or Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), have been scientifically shown to be effective in enhancing relationships. Through these therapeutic modalities, couples work with a therapist to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and increase emotional connection. By focusing on emotions and attachment, partners create a secure bond and build a stronger, more intimate relationship. This proven scientific approach has been shown to bring lasting changes to couples struggling with relationship issues.

Grief

Grief counselling supports clients in processing their feelings and emotions during times of loss. We offer a non-judgmental and empathetic space for clients to explore their grief, helping them process their emotions and identify supportive skills. This process can also involve addressing any complicated grief reactions and finding ways to achieve a sense of closure. Through this support, grief counsellors aim to assist clients in finding a path toward acceptance and healing

Life Transitions

Life transition counselling offers personalized support to individuals during significant life changes, including marriage, relocation, school, retirement, and more. With the help of a skilled counsellor, individuals can explore their emotions/challenges and develop effective coping strategies to promote growth, resilience, and a successful transition. This type of therapy is an invaluable resource for anyone seeking to navigate a life transition with confidence and positivity.

Trauma/PTSD

As an individual experiences life, there is an opportunity to experience events that cause trauma in the person and prevent them from living a thriving life. CBT, DBT, IFS and EMDR support clients in healing from life’s traumatic memories

Domestic Violence

Supporting victims to heal from domestic violence (physical, sexual, psychological, and emotional), as well as threats of violence or economic control. Including behaviours intended to intimidate, frighten, terrorize, humiliate, manipulate, coerce, blame, or injure someone.

Equine Therapy

Involves the client working with horses to explore their mental health needs, improve trust, nonverbal communications, and resilience. This active form of therapy fosters emotional growth, self-awareness, while healing is supported by the animal. Client engages in activities such as grooming, feeding, and leading horses while being guided by the therapist.

Clinical Supervision

Clinical Supervision can be engaged for those therapists who are completing their direct client hours to become fully qualified, or when learning a new skill/ competency.

Getting Help

I offer individual, couples, and family counselling. I am passionate about encouraging clients to find ways to reduce their challenging issues. We are in this together! You are the expert in your life and me offering alternative ways to approach relationships and consider events. Using a lens of empathy and compassion together we will discover the unique pathway for you to achieve your goals.
